Rolex Volunteer Opportunity

Hi Guys,
Since nearly everyone's at home this week, I thought I'd throw this out to you to talk over with your parents.
I had a few gals show interest in volunteering for Rolex or WEG 2010, on their forms they filled out in December. In order to have a chance at volunteering for WEG 2010, one MUST have exceptional volunteer experience at another competition (s).
I placed an email to a friend, who just happens to have been in charge of ALL cross-country jump judges and volunteers at Rolex (as well as many other horse trilas in Area VIII, for as long as I can remember.......MANY years.

Here's what I can do:

1. You can volunteer as crossing guards (crowd control, put up and take down ropes between each horse; blow whistle as horse approaches and yell at anyone who tries to cross before the ropes are taken down)
2. She will divide everyone into small groups, but within the same region. Usually 4-6 to a grouping at each crossing.
3.EACH child MUST be accompanied by one parent....Think about this before committing your time. This is an ALL day affair. You will have to be there for the briefing on Friday evening (usually 6pm), then be back at your post an hour and a half BEFORE the first horse is on course, and stay until the end. OUr family usually goes over on Friday, get our shopping done, attend the briefing, then volunteer the next day. This way, we're not tempted to try and sneak off shopping, while we're supposed to be at our post. Bathroom break is the only time one should skip out...SO, it is a very long day. This is rain or shine, cold or hot!!!!!! This is dedication! It is also AWESOME !!!!!!!!!!

Now for the good stuff:

You can take your cameras, video cameras, bring your own lawn chairs, coolers, and snacks. Pack light, though, it can be a long walk out across the course to get to your post. I have never been in a bad spot. There's always great views of jumps and wide screen TV's.
Here's what you get for EACH person who volunteers:
1. a program or free lunch (you can choose a lunch ticket for the food vendors, or have a boxed lunch brought to you at your post)
2. Usually a Rolex shirt, or hat, or something to wear the day you volunteer and keep. Sometimes, we get one of the posters too....
3. FREE admission to the ENTIRE ROLEX 3-Day EVENT !!!!!!!! This includes a lovely parking pass for volunteer parking, which is much closer than parking in neverland somewhere.
4. Awesome experience that you can put down if you register to volunteer at the WEG 2010.
5. An appreciation for all of those volunteers, something all kids need to have.

USPC Annual Meeting

Hello Everyone,

I have just returned home from the Annual Meeting in Greenville, SC. It was a busy weekend with lots of meetings. I hope that you will enjoy the new games that I have learned to help you prepare for Horse Management!! I also learned about how to make this blog and do some other creative things to help our communications.

I hope Games Practice went well today.

LRPC Hoodies and Sweatpant

Michel Strause is taking orders for hoodies and sweatpants. The will have the Long Run Pony Club logo full size on the hoodies and LRPC down the leg of the sweatpants.

They are Royal Blue with white printing or Grey with Royal Blue printing.

The hoodies are $15 or $18 with your name on the back and the sweatpants are $12.
